Hike Sticker Messaging app which is India's first Instant Messaging Application alternate to WhatsApp is shutting down from this January 2021. Hike was launched in 2012 which was first Made in India messaging application which was a best competitor of WhatsApp. After the launch of Hike app with in a year it had attracted millions of users. As per the analysis by the hike team, it was stated that users of hike spends around 36min everyday on the the application. But, it is not able to gain the popularity like WhatsApp.
Hike has attracted its users with trendy sticker packs along with the messaging. In 2019 it introduced HikeMoji. From Jan 2021 "India Won;t have its own messenger. global network effects are too strong(unless India bans westren companies)" posted by Mittal in twitter.
The decision to shutter Hike Sticker Chat comes at a time when WhatsApp is facing backlash for revising its privacy polices. The messaging gaint now plans to start sharing user data with its parent Facebook to improve how businesses operate on its platform.
Kavin Bharti Mittal who is CEO of Hike in Twitter announced that the Sticker Chat app is going to shutdown in January and it will be replaced with a new app called Vibe by Hike. Vibe is an extension of the Hike that the company debuted in 2018 and focuses on building a safe place online where people can make friends and it was approved platform which has over 100K signed users already.
